CYBEX recently held a training and education session for the Sales and Service people in Latin America. The event took place in Costa Rica April 21-25. The training covered many topics including: product updates, fitness trends, business planning, actual hands-on service training, biomechanics and education, as well as CYBEX tools and support materials.
The event was a huge success and CYBEX thanks everyone from the Latin America Team for their participation. We should also note the success was in part due to the involvement of some of our experienced distributors that were present such as: David Mears, Dr. Ricardo, Helena Tamayo, and Juan Ramon Morales. In addition, we would like to recognize the involvement and support of the presenters: John Young, Carl Benavent, and Mark Slavin.
This past April, CYBEX and LMT exhibited together at the FIBO trade show, in Essen Germany. With a total of 476 companies, the show set a new record in the number of exhibitors at the 24th annual event and saw a marked increase in visitor numbers over last year with attendance up over 5% to 47,300 registered visitors. Approximately 70% of attendees operate fitness studios, physiotherapist practices and health clubs.
2008 marked the beginning of a new era for CYBEX and LMT, our distributor in the region of German-speaking Europe, (Germany, Switzerland and Austria), with their efforts now solely focused on promoting and selling the CYBEX brand.
The 4000 square-foot booth featured a sample of equipment from all of CYBEX's Selectorized Strength lines including Eagle, VR3, VR1 and IFI accredited Total Access machines. The cardiovascular section of the booth included the 750T treadmill, featuring the new high-contrast display console, Cyclone Bikes and the ever-popular Arc Trainer.
The restaurant inside the CYBEX / LMT booth was busy during the entire show, serving as a place to relax as well as a meeting point for customers and sales managers to sit down and discuss the strength of our products and services. The compliments and attention received on the booth and product from customers and attendees at the 2008 FIBO show was unmatched in any of the previous years. We look forward to building upon our success in 2009!

Isn't it only right that the gym facilities and equipment should meet and exceed every expectation?
At a time when health is becoming a top priority, the drive to achieve it must be matched by the facilities and their equipment. CYBEX equipment located at the Pharaoh's Club in Wafi City meets that every need. Where innovation behind every workout exists, unparalleled performance is obtained during each repetition of a set, completed while exercising on the sleek and user-friendly designed pieces of CYBEX equipment.
"CYBEX is excellent for burning calories and protecting your joints", says Celine Nars (Recreational Gym User). CYBEX equipment is engineered to maximize the exercise training effect while minimizing the potential for overstress. The CYBEX Arc Trainer gives a total body workout, with an easy-to-understand and clear display. It beats the boredom of training with its program variety. Compared to other elliptical trainers the CYBEX Arc works with the bodies' biomechanics to reduce the stress placed on the lower back and with its smooth curves and meticulous design, only buildings such as the Burj Al Arab can share its elegance.
An Analysis by Dr. Paul Juris, Executive Director of the CYBEX Institute
Of the many highly scrutinized exercises used in fitness and rehabilitation settings, the one which has been subjected to the strongest opposition is the leg extension. Opponents of the leg extension claim that the exercise imposes too much stress on the connective tissues of the knee joint. Various other concerns lead detractors to proclaim the leg extension “off limits”.
Adding support to the anti-extension movement are those who argue that leg extensions are simply not functional, given that isolated movement about the knee bears little resemblance to normal functional activities. Some theorists have insinuated that such strengthening is actually detrimental to motor performance. Others have even commented that they “would never waste their time doing leg extensions.”
How did such strong opinions opposing the leg extension come to exist? To read the full article by the Executive Director of CYBEX Institute, Dr. Paul Juris., click here: The Truth On Fitness… Leg Extensions
