CYBEX International UK has gained Stage 2 Inclusive Fitness Initiative (IFI) accreditation on 12 pieces of cardiovascular and resistance strength equipment. CYBEX is the first company to offer this comprehensive range of Stage 2 accredited equipment with their Total Access line products. The features included are appropriate for visually, sensory and mobility impaired individuals as well as non-disabled users. CYBEX’s Total Access cardiovascular products offer innovations such as raised console iconography and color contrast, which allows easy identification of the main controls. Also included are easy access side handlebars, which are below seat height for easy transfer, and Unicam pedals with heel straps, which prevent the user’s feet from slipping off the pedals. The Total Access strength equipment has been adapted from CYBEX’s VR3 line. CYBEX has sought to prioritize the member experience on their VR3 equipment, designing it with both accessible and advanced features to appeal to all abilities. Features include easy weight selection, via an integral 3-position twist/select knob, weight stacks with low start weights and 5 lb. increments, which are suitable for inexperienced and older users. Swing away seats with locking plunger adjustments are another major feature. This allows easy access for wheelchairs users and one-handed seat adjustments for users with limited mobility. Other innovations include exercise instructions that are located at seated user height as well as choice of upper and lower handle positions which cater to wheelchair users who cannot adjust seat height, shorter users and those with balance problems who can then maintain full foot contact with the floor. |

CNBC’s veteran special features reporter, Mike Hegedus, is known for his hands-on interviewing style. On a recent visit to CYBEX’s Owatonna, MN manufacturing facility Hegedus literally rolled up his sleeves, straddled a CYBEX Arc Trainer and interviewed CYBEX Chairman & CEO John Aglialoro. Hegedus reported on Aglialoro’s seven year history with CYBEX including its dramatic turnaround and how he took the debt-ridden, struggling operation (the Trotter Company), and repositioned CYBEX into a money maker resulting in a recent listing by Business Week as one of the "Hot Growth Companies."
